The Maltese Association of Dermatology and Venereology (MADV) was set up in 1994, on the initiative of Dr Joseph Pace who was President until 2016 and remains a cornerstone of the Association to this day. Dr George Depasquale has been our excellent Treasurer since the Association was founded. The MADV currently has 21 members comprising practically all Dermatology & Venereology specialists and trainees in Malta.

The MADV is committed to promoting the highest standard of Dermatology and Venereology practice in Malta, in the best interest of patients, and for the long term benefit of our society. It is proud to be a point of reference for our members, represent our specialty in national and international fora and, above all, be an advocate for our patients with stakeholders.

The new MADV Statute was adopted in 2016 to enable the Association to function efficiently and equip it to meet the challenges of the future.

The MADV recognises the importance of continuing medical education for our members. The annual Dermfest academic meeting has been held with great success for many years, attracting interested colleagues from other specialties as well as allied health professionals and students who wish to learn more about our specialty. We plan to build on this success with new educational initiatives in the future.

The MADV is committed to supporting undergraduate teaching and postgraduate training and research in Dermatology and Venereology in Malta and has introduced annual Travel and Research Grants for members.

Our new website, launched in 2018, is intended to showcase the MADV in today’s world and we aim to develop it further in future. The website lists our Corporate members who we gratefully thank for their support.

We are proud of the important contribution that our members make to medical practice in Malta. We look ahead with optimism, confident that the upcoming generation of younger members will be able to take our Association to further success in future.
